Some statistics and insight into the Jewish Community…

Synagogue members are more than just members of a congregation. They are members of a community. Synagogue members identify heavily with their community and are passionate about staying connected. That is why they read and rely heavily on their synagogue publications like no other piece of mail. The synagogue newsletter is a community lifeline that actually stirs a sense of belonging and devotion - not just to their immediate local community but also to the world Jewish Community as a whole.

The Jewish Community in the United States is made up of approximately 5.2 million people. Of that the Tri-State New York Metropolitan area contains the highest Jewish population with over 1,750,000. In New York State there are 1,657,000 Jews, in New Jersey 485,000 and in Connecticut 111,000. According to the United Jewish Community’s (UJC) National Jewish Population Survey (NJPS) over 80% of Jewish people in the United States describe them selves as actively religious and in general, Jewish people tend to belong to Jewish-based organizations.

The Jewish Community is a lucrative demographic for advertisers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau the median income of the Jewish Community is $50,000 compared to $42,000 for the general population. Furthermore, 59% of employed Jewish adults work in management, professional, and technical areas compared to 46% of non-Jewish workers and 55% have earned at least a Bachelor’s Degree compared to 28% of all people in the United States.
